Property owners must retain a certified professional to perform X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) inspections on all dwelling units in:

  • Buildings constructed prior to 1960, or
     
  • Buildings constructed between 1960 and 1978, where lead-based paint is known to be present.
     

Inspections must be conducted by an EPA-certified lead inspector or risk assessor, and the results must be documented and retained for a minimum of 10 years.

This is a citywide requirement—inspections are necessary even in the absence of tenant turnover or planned renovations. Failure to comply may result in:
